Alice Sherborne is a UK-based artist whose work explores the space between the physical world and something just beyond it. She works primarily with paint and pencil, walls and paper.

The forms she creates are an expression of that which hovers between our reality of the senses and that of the spiritual.

Her distinct style began to take shape in 2023, when she started sketching intuitively, allowing forms to flow through her hand freely. In 2024, her practice evolved further through experimentation with new mediums, including digital tools. A turning point came during a half-year stay in New Zealand, where she lived and worked on organic farms and homesteads. This immersion in nature and alternative ways of living brought a sharper focus to her work.

During this period, she completed projects such as the magnolia dairy mural, which was more subject-led than her usual abstract work. The mural, centring around the farm and its shop, still carries her signature touch: a central plant form that appears to grow and twist with a life of its own.

Her following project, the Folktale Pattern series, emerged from a deep sense of longing for home while abroad. It reflects on her metaphysical and ancestral connection to the British Isles. By creating forms that can be repeated into a pattern she plays with the idea of a continuous line of storytelling, of memory passed down through myth, legend, and folk tradition.

Looking ahead, Alice aims to scale up her practice, expanding into larger formats and more immersive spaces.
